New Roma generations and the International Roma day celebration

 iendoalrioAfter more than 20 years of mediation between Roma children, their families, schools and local municipalities, Catalonia has young Roma very well prepared with post-compulsory education. Young Roma are taking the lead in neighborhoods’ assemblies and   local councils in order to express what it means to be Roma today, and how Roma community is facing day by day racism and the multiple ways of discriminations and high levels of poverty that they suffer.

School day of Non-violence and Peace

descargaFrom Mediation4Roma team we would like to commemorate the School day of Non-violence and Peace as an important event to express our wish to overthrow racism, violence and discrimination in schools as well as in society. From this voluntary initative, we would like to make an appeal to all schools , NGO’s and other insitutions in taking part of this cause and join us in this reivindication.
Many Roma children face day by day social stigmas and stereotypes into schools. At this point, we would like to advocate a permanent education far away from judgements and full of harmony, tolerance, solidarity, respect for human rights, non-violence and peace.

Mediation4Roma and the Protector of Citizens – Ombudsman of the AP Vojvodina

World day of Roma language: Maśkarthemutno Dives e Rromane Ćhibǎqo

Romani_population_average_estimateParticipants, linguists, teachers, journalists and Roma organizations coming from 15 countries, were meeting in Zagreb the 3rd and 5th of November in 2012. Since then, Roma community decided to celebrate the Roma language statement, each 5th of November. The main purpose of this statement was the dissemination of Roma language and its recognition as one of the European tongues.
Since then, the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages encourages National Governments to accept Roma language in public administrations and institutions. Indeed, states shall recognize and finance the Roma language promotion. European Institutions should make an intensive control of all actions regarding Roma language abroad.
The World day of Roma language should be stated and recognized in all countries the 5th of November. In that case, from Mediation4Roma project, we would like to recognize the importance of Roma language in order to work on the promotion of Roma culture and its cultural heritage’s visibilization.

Second Kick-off Meeting in Rome


All the Mediation4Roma Consortium was working in a face to face meeting the past 26th and 27th of June. In the meeting all the members were designing the basic schedule of next months, discussing on the currently underway work packages and making agreements and assuming new compromises. The consortium will meet the next october in Serbia for the third face to face meeting. Continue reading
